Similar to bad weather hit the northern region the prior day, City blew Manchester United away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a result that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they consolidated their standing at the top of the table.

This scoreline marked back-to-back Women's Super League setbacks for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since spring 2024, putting them a significant margin off the table toppers with their title hopes in serious doubt.

Manchester United's ability to manage domestic and European soccer with a small squad has been a hotly discussed subject since they earned a place in the European competition.
