Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
